Unity 101 Annual Survey
Saturday 25 June 2011 17:42Unity 101 Community Radio wanted to engage with the youth of the local community so commissioned four students from Southampton Solent University to conduct a survey of 100 local youths - aged 13 to 19 years - from various segments of City.
The results of the survey showed that 58% have heard about Unity 101 Community Radio, with 50.7% of the teenagers listening to the radio in the evening, whilst 29% listen in the morning and 19.4% in the afternoon.
Of those that listen to Unity 101 Community Radio 41.4% are listen on a daily basis, followed by 41.4% listening on a weekly basis. The entertainment factor of the radio station attracts 29.6% of the youth, followed by the music at 28.6%.
The survey found that the Unity 101 Community Radio website is the preferred mode of listening at 41.2%, closely seconded by 'in the car' at 30.9%.
Unity 101 Community Radio will use the findings of this survey to engage with the youth and aims to train and work with them. 17% of the youths surveyed have agreed to undergo training and work in the radio station. Unity 101 Community Radio is truly becoming a pioneer in social reintegration for the community in Southampton.
