DNG
Digital News Gathering By Unity 101
Saturday 16 July 2011 22:42Developed to allow ordinary people to broadcast content from their place or work or home and to allow people who have little or no radio experience to undergo a small amount of training to enable them to broadcast live on Unity 101 Community Radio
We have installed 5 DNG units and are currently broadcasting during the Drive Time programmes at 4.30pm from:
Monday: Southampton City Council - Media Department
Tuesday: The Point Theatre, Eastleigh
Wednesday: The Mayflower Theatre, Southampton
Thuesday: The Marlands & West Quay shopping centres
Friday: Winchester Discovery Centre
The DNG consists of following items:
The installation is very simple and straightforward. All it needs is one 13 amp and ethernet sockets. Once connected it can be put away or hidden by a office table.
• At the point of broadcasting simply switch on the mains which sends a signal to our studio that you have switched on the system.
• Place the microphone stands on the table, adjust the height of the stand to suit you.
• Place the headphones on your head; you will then hear whatever is being broadcasted live on air.
• DNG allows you and another guest to have live on air chats as well as interacting with a presenter in our studio.
• Your cue is taken when the jingle is played with a music bed for you to talk over and air your message.
• 6/7 mins of live on air conversation including interaction with the studio presenter.
• DNG allows an organisation to share their message on a regular basis to our target audience.
• The content is prepared by yourselves with all news and events that are happening.
• Whilst this is broadcast once a week during the Drive Time show at 4:30pm, it can be used at any time.
